Our Pastor

David Skinner – Senior Pastor

Welcome to our church’s website and thank you for taking the time to learn more about our church! My name is David Skinner and I serve here at FBC Mertens as Senior Pastor. First, I am the proud husband of Kayla, the father to Tripp, Waylon, and Wyatt! I grew up in Fairfield, Texas and graduated High School there in 2005. Sam Houston State University is where I received my bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology with a minor in secondary education in December of 2009. However, I never worked in a school district but spent nearly 10 years in the Oil & Gas Industry until I surrendered to preach in the Fall of 2017. After surrendering to the ministry, I pursued formal seminary training and graduated with a Master of Theological Studies, with an emphasis on preaching and pastoring, from Midwestern Baptist Theological Seminary in December 2021. My time in ministry prior to pastoring here was spent as a lay elder, pastoral intern, and four years as a fulltime youth pastor.
