Our Ministries

We believe that it is the responsibility of church leadership to equip the saints for the work of ministry. (Eph. 4:11-13) Our church functions much in an organic way, while still maintaining structure and categories. So while you read about our ministries below, remember that there is a lot of overlap in body life, and these distinctions are not drawn to strictly.

CHILDREN & STUDENT MINISTRIES

Our children’s ministries exist to come alongside and join our parents in equipping and discipling their children. We firmly believe that it is the parents who are to be the primary disciple makers of their children, but the church is here to help in that effort in numerous ways. We desire all of our students to know, love, and follow Christ Jesus in each of their lives. Our student ministries include Sunday school, midweek activities and services for all ages. Our students also attend camps, retreats, enjoy fun events, and so much more throughout the year.

The vision of our church is to be a Gospel-centered, community-driven, mission-focused people who seek to make much of Jesus and his Gospel. Our vision for the children is the same. We recognized that God has called parents to be the primary discipling tools of their children, and we want to assist (not usurp) parents in their role to raise their children in the discipline and instruction of the Lord!

ADULT MINISTRIES

FBC Mertens adult ministries offers men’s, women’s, parenting, and family programs through Sunday school classes, men’s and women’s gatherings, Bible Study groups, and retreats. We also offer discipleship classes geared towards parents and families that cover topics such as family worship, parenting, and marriage. We firmly believe the family is the nucleus of God’s created order and we take seriously the family discipleship responsibility we have towards our people!
