What To Expect

We would love to have you come and visit us on a Sunday morning. We know that it can be a little unnerving to come and be part of something new. Thus, whether you come from a church background or not– here’s an explanation of what we’re about here at FBC Mertens.

The Goal

We are dedicated to keeping Christ and His word at the heart of our worship. Our worship is regulated by the Scripture as we seek each Lord’s Day to read the Word, sing the Word, pray the Word, preach the Word, and then in faith respond to God’s word. Hence, we are committed to expositional preaching and singing biblically accurate and rich songs each Lord’s Day.

The Format

Our services include biblically rich hymns and songs that are filled with the truths of Scripture. Within our service time, that typically lasts about one hour, we will worship the Lord through giving and Scripture reading. The center of our Lord’s Day gathering is hearing from God through His preached word. Again, we are committed to expositing the Scriptures through books of the Bible or large parts of Scripture each week. Lastly, the service will conclude with a time of response and a closing prayer.

Children

We here at First Baptist of Mertens value family worship! When we gather corporately, it is a family environment; in other words, children are welcomed and encouraged in our worship service! You and your children should feel welcome in the sanctuary service. In effort to serve you and others, there is a nursery available for infants through toddlers during all of our services on Sunday morning.

Parking

There is parking both in the front and the back of our facilities with easy access for people of all ages. We have people waiting at the entrances to welcome you as you come into our facility.
